Originally founded in the late 12th century as a port from which the monks of Meaux Abbey could trade wool from their estates, Hull was once classed as an important trading & fishing hub. This particular hub soon became a bustling metropolis and is now home to the well-known attraction, The Hull New Theatre.
This picturesque corner of England is adored by residents and visitors alike and the region is home to various sights and sounds. Such attractions include a mixture of colourful seaside resorts, a cosmopolitan city, a breathtaking coastline and miles upon miles of tranquil countryside.
It’s an area suited to both those who love the great outdoors and also to those who enjoy an evening on the tiles after a long day in the office. Many of the locals will spend their weekends scrambling over cliffs and exploring stately homes.
Other popular attractions in the area include the Jungle River log flume and the dodgems, both of which are located at Bridlington Park. Residents will often take the little ones here come the school holidays.
Those who wish to escape the city for a few hours will find sanctuary in the surrounding landscape, which comprises the Yorkshire Wolds. With a wide range of walking and cycle routes available, it’s easy to spend an entire day exploring the Hull countryside.
Beverley Racecourse and Sewerby Hall are another two prevalent attractions, both of which are often frequented by the locals.
Hull is also home to three shopping centres, a number of prime parks and a total of eight free museums. The shopping areas include St Stephens, Hepworth’s Arcade and St Andrew’s Quay Retail Park. Pickering Park, West Park and Pearson Park and Wildlife Gardens are all great spots on a sunny day, whilst the eight museums on offer range in style from street life to maritime.
