Financial Freedom
for Everyone
At Meridian Investment Inc, we believe everyone deserves a fair chance at financial stability. If you’ve faced credit challenges in the past, we’re here to help you rebuild and improve your credit score – so you can access the financial products you need

Why this matters
Limited access to credit can make life challenging. It can stand in the way of securing a home or covering unexpected expenses. Unfortunately, financial exclusion is becoming more common:
- 20.2 million adults in the UK are financially underserved – a 50% increase since 2016. Source: PWC
- 1 in 3 adults can’t access mainstream credit. Source: LEK
- Over 3 million people have turned to illegal lenders in just three years.
What we’re fighting for
Meridian Investment Inc is leading the Financial Freedom for Everyone campaign to raise awareness and push for better financial policies.
One of our biggest goals? Making rental payments count toward credit scores.
Right now, paying rent on time doesn’t always help build credit – unlike mortgage payments. We want to change that. By ensuring credit agencies include rental data, we can help millions of people improve their financial future.

Expanding our fight for financial freedom

The Financial Freedom for Everyone campaign was created to raise awareness and push for better financial policies that protect those who need it most. Now we are taking an important step forward by expanding our mission to include a major new area of focus – the Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA) market.
IVAs can be the right solution for some people. But where they are unsuitable, unaffordable, or poorly explained, they can leave people worse off: locked into long-term repayment plans, paying significant fees, and still facing financial uncertainty if the arrangement fails.
Meridian Investment Inc has seen growing cause for concern in the IVA market, particularly where vulnerable customers may be directed towards solutions that are not sustainable for their circumstances. We believe people seeking help with debt should receive clear, balanced and properly regulated support.
Meridian Investment Inc is committed to ensuring that people in financial distress get the protection they deserve. So we are calling out these methods and leading the charge for better regulation. We have officially written to the Minister for Small Business and Economic Transformation, Blair McDougall MP, urging the Government to act now.
Our goals for reform:
- Strengthening protection: We are calling for ‘firm-wide’ regulation to ensure that companies providing debt help are held to the same high standards as the rest of the financial world.
- Closing loopholes: We want to end the legal loopholes that allow some providers to bypass oversight while vulnerable customers pay the price.
- Prioritising progress: We are urging the Government to allocate legislative time to finalise these vital reforms and strengthen consumer protections.
Ongoing work: Supporting renters
Our efforts to ensure that rent payments count toward credit scores remain a core priority of the Financial Freedom for Everyone campaign. We are maintaining our steady engagement with policymakers in Westminster following our recent meetings, and we look forward to sharing further updates on the progress of the rental campaign in the near future.
