Bristol is home to several world-class attractions, including the likes of the iconic suspension bridge (something the locals are extremely proud of), the UK’s most acclaimed historic ship, one of Britain’s leading interactive science centres and the world’s fifth oldest zoo.
The streets of Bristol are a pleasure to walk through, regardless of whether you’re travelling to work or acquainting a few of the local shops. This is mainly down to the fact that street artists from around the globe have taken it upon themselves to transform the various alleyways and sidewalks into something of a permanent art project – the largest of its kind to ever take place – and you can even spot a few authentic Banksys if you’re lucky.
The Clifton Suspension Bridge is certainly one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. This fascinating structure was designed in 1831 by Isambard Kingdom Brunel and then later completed (after his death) in 1864.
Many of the locals enjoy meandering through the many rooms of Bristol Museum and Art Gallery where a number of fine exhibitions take place on a regular basis. Some of the subjects include archeology, art, natural history and Egyptology. The building is as equally magnificent as each and every display inside.
Bristol Zoo Gardens is set within 12 acres of green space and plays host to a variety of interesting and exotic animals, including the likes of seals, penguins, monkeys, bugs, butterflies, reptiles and Asiatic Lions and is a great place to spend a day with the kids during the summer holidays.
